Nobody is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes. We all need a second chance. In John 21, we read that the early disciples who were expert fishermen were not catching anything. Someone from the shore asked, “Hello! Friends, did you catch any fish?” The disciples responded, “Nothing”. The man said, “Cast your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” They did and they caught so many. It is always good to try again when we fail. We are thankful to those who encouraged us or even demanded that we try again. We are thankful to those who believed in us more than we believed in ourselves.
Looking now at the bigger picture of God’s act of salvation: The first chance was the Exodus when God delivered the Israelites from bondage, provided them with Ten Commandments to guide them, and led them to the promised land. Now the second chance is through the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through faith in Jesus Christ, we all received forgiveness of our sins and assurance of our own resurrection. Jesus accepts us . Through Jesus, we overcome our fears and worries. Through him we have salvation and eternal life. Through him, we can try a new journey.
Praise the Lord who gives us a second chance. Blessed are those who surrender themselves to Jesus and believe in him.
